Well if you like it, don't quit. It takes a long time to get decent with any type of graphics and then to actually put your graphic skills to a specific use.

I guess school in Sweden is a little different  My dad was the opposite, and wanted me to stay in school. I thought it'd be pretty easy to pay rent and all of that when I first quit, but then the whole recession thing started. I used to sell my designs for around $1,000 and now I can only get around $250.

Are you talking about yourself when you say 'unlike others'?

I'll let you know for sure. I've already got a few tutorials/articles I'm planning to write. :)

It depends on what type of graphics you're making, and what you want to put them to use to. Any idea on what you want to put your graphics to use on?

They went down partly because I don't really get normal clients anymore. I took down my old portfolio around Christmas and didn't have enough money to have the new version coded, which was how I got all of my clients. Lately I've been selling WordPress themes on SitePoint.com, which also attracts clients who want to hire me for other design work.

Nonsense :P Your art is good, and you could definitely charge for it. You just need to find what sells in the style that you do. For example, ~sergitosuanez has a really cartoony style, which happens to look well with mascot designs. So he sells mascot designs for websites for about $600 a piece.

A good way of getting traffic and possible clients is getting a decent web design done, getting it coded (make sure it's W3C validated), and then submitting it to CSS gallery websites [link]

I'd suggest you practice more with web design before getting into client work. It's a big hassle, and you have to know exactly what you're doing to make the client happy.

I first started freelancing through 99designs.com. People hold contests that have a prize, and they choose a winner when the time ends. The only drawback is that each contest holder is different, and they don't all want quality design. Some choose decent designs, while others almost seem to pick the ugliest design in the contest. For that reason, it's hard to win contests there. Either way, it's good for practice.
